Yankees keep Boone for 2027 after consecutive ALDS exits, reports say

The reported return preserves managerial continuity without announcing a contract beyond next season.

The Yankees are bringing Aaron Boone back for 2027 after another division-series elimination, according to Monday reports from Pete Caldera and YES Network's Jack Curry. Boone is set to enter his tenth season in charge, with one guaranteed year left on his current contract.

Caldera cited a Major League Baseball executive in his initial report at 5:25 p.m. Eastern. Curry then reported that a source had independently confirmed Boone's return and credited Caldera for breaking the story.

The reported decision keeps the same manager in place after consecutive American League Division Series exits. New York reached the World Series in 2024, losing to the Dodgers, but was eliminated in the division round in each of the following two seasons.

Boone has managed New York since 2018. The Yankees extended him in February 2025, months after that World Series appearance. Monday's reports did not announce another extension: his existing agreement runs through 2027.
