Dallas finished 26-56 last season. Patrick Dumont hired Masai Ujiri to run basketball ops. Ujiri brought in Mike Schmitz as GM and hired Michigan’s Dusty May after parting with Jason Kidd.
The roster still centers Cooper Flagg, Kyrie Irving, and Dereck Lively II. Offseason trades and the draft added wing and frontcourt depth, including Zaccharie Risacher, Santi Aldama, and Morez Johnson Jr. Irving has been sidelined since a March 2025 ACL tear and is part of the plan for opening night.
