Trace Crowe added pressure in the group ahead by holing an eagle putt from roughly 40 feet on the short par-four 14th. Smotherman answered on the same hole: his drive stopped about six feet from the cup, leaving a birdie after the eagle attempt missed. That restored some breathing room immediately after the double.
Another approach finished close at the 15th, although Smotherman missed that birdie chance. He converted from inside 12 feet at the 16th, then went bogey-birdie over the last two holes. Field Level Media reported that his 70-foot eagle putt at the closing par five settled inside two feet. Ghim’s chip for eagle narrowly missed, and both players finished with birdies.
The winning putt gave Smotherman a tournament scoring record in the event’s third year. His rounds of 63, 62, 65 and 68 kept him in front through a low-scoring week. The tour’s video captures the finish and celebration.
