Pete Crow-Armstrong powers Cubs past Reds with historic season milestone

Chicago won 9-1 in Cincinnati as Crow-Armstrong reached 40 home runs, 30 doubles and 30 steals in the same season.

The Cubs turned Sunday's game in Cincinnati into a statement win, beating the Reds 9-1 behind 13 hits and a three-run third inning. Chicago scored five times before the fourth inning ended, then kept the margin wide with home runs from Michael Conforto, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Seiya Suzuki.

Crow-Armstrong's two-run shot in the fifth was his 45th home run of the season. MLB's official game story also credited him with his 38th stolen base and identified him as the 10th player in league history to reach 40 home runs, 30 doubles and 30 steals in one season.

Alex Bregman opened the scoring with an RBI single, Ian Happ added an RBI single, Nico Hoerner walked in a run and Pedro Ramírez delivered a two-run single in the third. David Peterson held Cincinnati to one run, while Colin Rea closed the 9-1 final.

The Cubs' official condensed game captures the power display and the late defensive work that protected the lead. Chicago leaves Cincinnati with a second straight strong result in the series and a milestone season from Crow-Armstrong to carry into the next game.
