Lanning also has not named a starter. The position has changed hands in each game since Moore got hurt. Dylan Raiola replaced him at USC, then gave way to third-stringer Brock Thomas in the loss to UCLA. Thomas started last week against Nebraska, and Raiola came on in the fourth quarter and threw the winning touchdown pass in a 17-14 victory. Raiola, not Thomas, spoke to reporters Wednesday.
Stewart missed last week's game and is out again with what Oregon calls an undisclosed injury. He was arrested early Sunday by Springfield, Oregon, police on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants, ESPN reported. On Monday, Lanning said "an incident that didn't match our standard" had overshadowed the Nebraska win and that any discipline would be handled internally. He did not mention Stewart by name.
Stewart leads Oregon with 27 catches, 352 yards and four touchdowns in five games.
Tight end Jamari Johnson, a preseason All-American, was cited for speeding in the Springfield area at 3:51 a.m. Sunday, about an hour before Stewart's arrest, according to court records cited by ESPN. Johnson was not on the availability report and is expected to play.
Beat writers covering the Ducks also listed offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho and defensive tackle Matthew Johnson as out for the trip.
Oregon (4-2) and Illinois (3-3) kick off at 3 p.m. ET Saturday on BTN. What to watch: whether Raiola gets the start, and whether Lanning says anything new about Moore's protocol status before kickoff.
