NBA executive vice president Scott Kaufman-Ross told ESPN the league was trying to remove problematic markets without pushing betting into illegal markets. The restrictions operate through the NBA’s agreements with authorized sportsbook partners.
The league has not announced formal partnerships with prediction markets, and Kaufman-Ross acknowledged that enforcing the restrictions there could be difficult, Purdum reported.
A separate Friday memo to teams described more integrity training and monitoring, along with a text hotline for reporting harassment and threats from bettors.
