Notre Dame and Michigan State renew the Megaphone rivalry under the lights

The 2-0 teams meet Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock in their first game since 2017.

Notre Dame's next game brings Michigan State back to South Bend for the first time in a decade. The Irish and Spartans meet Saturday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Notre Dame Stadium, with NBC and Peacock carrying the game. Both teams are 2-0. Notre Dame beat Wisconsin 41-13 and Rice 52-0, while Michigan State followed its opening win over Toledo with a 35-7 victory over Eastern Michigan.

This is the 80th meeting in a series Notre Dame leads 49-29-1. It is also the first matchup since the Irish won 38-13 in East Lansing in 2017. The winner receives the Megaphone Trophy, presented in the rivalry since 1949. This year's game arrives 60 years after the 10-10 tie between No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Michigan State in 1966.

Marcus Freeman used his September 14 press conference to describe Pat Fitzgerald's team as tough, physical and fundamentally sound. He said the Spartans play with confidence and do not beat themselves. Watch Freeman’s game-week press conference below.
