Kyrie Irving is expected back for the Mavericks’ opener

Shams Charania said Irving is fully recovered from the March 2025 ACL tear and locked into Dallas’ plans with Dusty May, Masai Ujiri, and Mike Schmitz.

Kyrie Irving has not played since March 3, 2025, when he tore the ACL in his left knee against Sacramento. Dallas ruled him out for the rest of that season.

ESPN’s Shams Charania said Irving is fully recovered and fully in the Mavericks’ offseason plans, including talks with new coach Dusty May, president Masai Ujiri, and GM Mike Schmitz. Opening night is Oct. 21 at Houston.

Before the injury in 2024-25, Irving averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 50 games.
