Google calls this the third Flash release in six weeks, three weeks after 3.7 Flash. Both variants share the same core, with Cyber tuned for vulnerability discovery and patching.

The Fairwind Program is not self-serve. Google is giving governments, critical-infrastructure operators, and core software maintainers prioritized access to Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber with the CodeMender harness for find-and-patch workflows. Other Google Cloud customers can still run CodeMender on public models. SiliconANGLE reported more than 650 launch participants, including Snowflake, CrowdStrike, and Datadog.

On September 1 Google said Gemini can now search dynamically across frames, audio, and transcripts instead of ingesting video at a fixed frame rate. Google claims up to 66 percent lower analysis cost and 88 percent fewer tokens. 3.8 Flash docs already list interactive video understanding as a focus, so the media tools sit next to the new workhorse.

Google Pics started rolling out September 1 to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and most Workspace business customers. It is built on Nano Banana for image create and edit inside Docs and Slides, with Drive coming later. It is the consumer image surface riding beside 3.8 Flash, not a separate product story.
