Google and Cathay Pacific start an Asia-Pacific AI contrail trial

Google Research partnered with Cathay Pacific on September 7 to trial AI-powered contrail avoidance on ultra-long-haul flights. More than 80 flights followed avoidance routes with roughly 40% estimated cut in contrail warming impact. The Hong Kong–Singapore corridor accounted for more than half of the trial reductions. Crews get live forecasts through Wi-Fi and Cathay's Electronic Flight Folder for small altitude shifts. Phase two scales the partnership and adds Contrails.org.
