Giants release WR Darius Slayton, their longest-tenured player

The New York Giants released wide receiver Darius Slayton on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 4:55 p.m. ET, the club said on Giants.com.

Slayton, a 2018 fifth-round pick, was the longest-tenured Giant. He had 296 catches for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns in seven seasons. The team had signed him to a three-year, $36 million deal before last season; he was due $13 million this year.

ESPN reports the release creates just over $3 million in 2026 cap space. As a vested veteran, Slayton is not subject to waivers and is free to sign elsewhere. Giants.com's transaction tracker lists the move as Terminated, Vested Veteran, all contracts (September 7).

This is a separate filing from the Winston and Runyan extensions earlier Monday.
