Garrett Wilson gets a home reset after a quiet Chicago game

Wilson followed 107 yards in Detroit with 27 in Chicago. Cleveland provides the next test of the Jets passing game.

Garrett Wilson's last two games show how quickly a receiver's production can swing. The Jets' official log credits him with 10 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown at Detroit, followed by three catches for 27 yards in the October 4 loss at Chicago. That sequence makes Wilson an interesting Buckeyes watch this week. The Detroit result establishes that a high-volume game is already part of his 2026 record. Chicago establishes that the next game can look very different. Neither performance explains the other on its own, and catches alone cannot identify whether the difference came from coverage, passing opportunities or execution.

For Sunday's viewing, start with when the ball reaches him. An early completion tells you that he has entered the offense; several completions across different possessions tell you more about sustained involvement. A late cluster of catches can produce a respectable final total without changing how the earlier drives played out.

The location of those catches matters when judging the offense, even if a simple prediction card only counts the yardage. A reception short of the first-down marker and a reception that extends a possession both add to the box score. They have different effects on the drive. Keep that distinction in mind before treating a catch total as a complete review.

Wilson entered the season with three consecutive 1,000-yard years from 2022 through 2024, according to the Jets. His 2025 line covers seven games. That history should be read with its game counts attached; comparing raw season totals without them loses the context.

Cleveland is the next opportunity to see which shape the passing game takes. Buckeyes fans can watch Wilson's involvement without predicting a bounce-back as a certainty. The final game book will establish the catches, yards and touchdowns. The possessions in between will explain much more about how New York got there.
