Arizona Sports reporter Damon Allred described Arizona State's difficulty protecting Boley and matching Baylor's physical play. The difference showed up in the rushing totals: Baylor gained 244 yards on the ground, while the Sun Devils managed 99. Baylor finished with 564 total yards to Arizona State's 409 and converted nine of 15 third downs.
Gavin Freeman led the Bears' receivers with seven catches for 115 yards. Brown caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Lagway added his eleven-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter, and Armstrong's 23-yard field goal completed Baylor's scoring.
Boley completed 25 of 43 passes for 304 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Reed Harris caught seven passes for 125 yards, while Miller had five receptions for 85 yards and Arizona State's only touchdown. Carson Smith made all four of his field-goal attempts, from 46, 32, 36 and 40 yards.
Baylor improves to 4–1 overall and 2–0 in the Big 12 with its fourth consecutive victory. Arizona State falls to 2–2 and 1–1. The Sun Devils found passing gains and repeated field-goal opportunities, but they could not keep pace once Baylor added touchdowns on its first two possessions after halftime.
