DeGrom allows eight as Twins erase Rangers’ early lead in 10-2 loss

Texas scored twice in the first, but Minnesota answered with six in the second and Luke Keaschall finished with four hits.

Texas scored twice before Minnesota came to bat Friday night, but its lead lasted only one inning. The Twins put six runs on the board in the second, then kept adding on their way to a 10-2 win over the Rangers. Jacob deGrom allowed eight runs in four innings, and Texas managed only six hits. The official MLB play log and box score show a game that turned sharply after the Rangers' two-run start.

Brandon Nimmo scored on Corey Seager's first-inning single. Wyatt Langford then grounded out to bring Josh Jung home, giving Texas a 2-0 lead. Minnesota answered in the second after Josh Bell and Ryan Jeffers scored on Royce Lewis's single. Ryan Kreidler's bunt single brought in Walker Jenkins, and Luke Keaschall followed with a two-run triple to right. Keaschall later scored as the inning continued, making it 6-2 after the second. MLB's clip of Keaschall's triple shows the hit that delivered the decisive two-run hit in a six-run response.

The gap widened in the fourth. Keaschall doubled home Kreidler, then Kody Clemens singled in Keaschall. DeGrom finished with eight runs, all earned, on eight hits and three walks over four innings; he struck out five. The line is significant for Texas because the offense produced nothing after its first two runs, leaving no way to recover from the six-run second and two-run fourth.

Clemens added a two-run homer in the sixth against Gavin Collyer to make it 10-2. MLB's official video captures that final scoring swing. Keaschall finished with four hits and three RBI; Clemens had three hits and three RBI. Minnesota collected 11 hits in all, compared with Texas's six.

Joe Ryan held the Rangers to two runs on four hits in six innings, with eight strikeouts and one walk. Three Minnesota relievers combined for three more scoreless innings. Texas reliever Trevor Williams delivered two scoreless innings after Collyer, but by then the Twins had built an eight-run lead. The Rangers' best opening inning could not offset deGrom's difficult middle frames and Ryan's control of the rest of the game. The 10-2 final was a single completed Friday result, with the scoring detail and pitching lines recorded in MLB's official box score.
