Dallas Cowboys left guard Tyler Smith will undergo thumb surgery and be placed on injured reserve, coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday, September 7, 2026.

Smith will miss at least the first four games. DallasCowboys.com frames the recovery window at about 4 to 6 weeks. Smith had been managing the injury in hopes of avoiding surgery. T.J. Bass moves into the starting left guard spot.
