Carles Gil's late penalty was not enough in a 2-1 loss at the Galaxy

New England outshot LA 25-7, Dániel Gazdag debuted, and Gil scored his ninth goal of 2026 in stoppage time.

The Revolution fell 2-1 at the LA Galaxy on Sept. 5 despite a season-high 25 shots (eight on target) to Los Angeles' seven.

Marco Reus scored an 11th-minute penalty and Robert Taylor made it 2-0 in the 33rd. Carles Gil converted a stoppage-time penalty for his ninth goal of 2026. Gil is now 22-for-25 from the spot in his MLS career, tied for seventh all-time in penalty goals.

New signing Dániel Gazdag debuted for 15 minutes. Luca Langoni returned from a five-match lower-body absence and drew the late foul that set up Gil. New England sits 11-8-4 with 37 points and fourth in the East. Next: Wednesday, Sept. 9 at NYCFC (8 p.m. ET, Apple TV / 98.5 HD2).
