Cabot Wilds plans a walkable Nova Scotia course shaped by river and blueberry fields

Jeff Mingay's 18-hole design is the centerpiece of a 2,500-acre resort planned for late 2027 in Cumberland County.

Cabot has announced Cabot Wilds, a 2,500-acre golf and residential project in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, with an 18-hole course by Canadian architect Jeff Mingay scheduled to debut in late 2027. The project gives course-design followers an unusually clear early look at the land and the design brief rather than only a resort name and opening date.

Golf Digest's report says the property combines rolling ground, maple forest, wild blueberry fields and frontage along the River Philip. Mingay described the setting as having an old New England character, and Cabot's own course page says the river will shape the experience throughout the round.

The routing is intended to preserve that character. Cabot says the course will use existing contours and remnants of former gravel workings, with a walkable layout designed for golfers of different abilities. That combination suggests a course whose identity will come from the property itself: changing winds, inland texture and river movement rather than a manufactured coastal spectacle.

The resort announcement also matters because the golf course is part of a larger year-round destination. Cabot is developing the property with the Bragg family, founders of Oxford Frozen Foods, and plans lodging, residences and outdoor recreation around the course. Golf remains the anchor, but the business model extends beyond rounds played during a short season.

For now, the design is still a promise rather than a finished course. The useful details are the late-2027 target, Mingay's authorship, the riverfront site and the decision to build around the existing rural landscape. Construction progress and the final routing will determine whether Cabot Wilds delivers the quiet, discovered quality its early descriptions emphasize.
