Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed Tuesday to a three-year, $165 million extension that keeps him under contract through the 2029 season.
Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport the new money averages $55 million per season. Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer called it the largest contract in franchise history. The club confirmed the extension on Buccaneers.com under the headline that Mayfield is locked in through 2029.
Talks had broken off before training camp after Mayfield rejected a two-year offer. Negotiations restarted over the weekend, five days before Tampa Bay opens the regular season.
