Bucks move home opener to 4 PM Eastern for Brewers’ World Series night

Milwaukee’s October 23 game against Chicago will start four hours earlier so it avoids the World Series opener.

The Bucks moved their October 23 home opener against Chicago to 3 p.m. Central, or 4 p.m. Eastern, to avoid a conflict with the Brewers’ first World Series game in 44 years.

The game had been scheduled for 7 p.m. Central. The Bucks said Friday that they worked with the NBA to move tipoff, freeing up the night for World Series Game 1 in Milwaukee.

The Brewers clinched their first World Series berth since 1982 by completing a four-game sweep of the Dodgers on Thursday. Their 103 regular-season wins gave them baseball’s best record and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Cleveland or Tampa Bay will be the opponent.

The change could be the first of two scheduling decisions for the city’s teams. The Bucks also host Cleveland on October 31, the date of a possible World Series Game 7. That conflict depends on the baseball series reaching a seventh game.

The October 23 basketball game will air on MY24 in Milwaukee and the Bucks’ listed statewide affiliates. The team’s original announcement gives the new local tipoff time; CBS Sports’ report confirms the four-hour move.
