Luka Doncic, last season's scoring leader, had 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists, but he also committed a career-high 11 turnovers, according to the Associated Press. He shot 8 for 21 and 2 for 8 from 3-point range.
Walker Kessler gave the Lakers what Doncic could not. The 7-foot-2 center had 22 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and three steals. He missed his first shot in a Lakers uniform, a short layup on the opening possession, after going 12 for 12 in his debut against Golden State. Then he made his next eight. The AP said it is the first time in Kessler's five seasons that he has scored 20 or more in back-to-back games.
The Lakers had six players score at least 13. Ziaire Williams added 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and Matisse Thybulle and Quentin Grimes each scored 13. Grimes also had eight rebounds. Los Angeles scored 39 points in the third quarter to open up a lead that reached 15. The Clippers cut it to six late, but Reaves and Kessler made the plays to close it out.
