How it got to overtime
JMU led most of the night. George Pettaway's 1-yard run opened the scoring, and backup quarterback JC Evans hit Braeden Wisloski for a 70-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Malachi Singleton's 19-yard touchdown pass to A. Sanchez with 1:02 left in the half made it 14-10, and Camden Coleman's 19-yard scoring pass to C. Keller put the Dukes up 21-13 late in the third.
App State tied it early in the fourth on Singleton's 5-yard touchdown pass to Chris Lofton and a two-point pass to Sam Pickett III. Suarez answered with a 47-yard field goal, his longest of the season according to JMU, and London tied it again from 36 with 6:16 left.
Then App State's Phares intercepted Coleman, and Henry Hasselbeck threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to L. Douglas 24 seconds after London's kick for a 31-24 lead. JMU needed the rest of regulation to answer, and Coleman ran it in from 6 yards with three seconds left to force overtime.
