Angel Reese goes 2 for 12 and the Dream give away 14 first-half turnovers in a Game 4 loss

Atlanta won the second half by 11 and still lost 67-62 because of a first half it handed to Golden State. The WNBA Finals are tied 2-2 heading to San Francisco.

The Atlanta Dream had a chance to take a 3-1 lead in the WNBA Finals at home on Saturday. They lost 67-62 to the Golden State Valkyries, and they lost it in the first half, when they turned the ball over 14 times and fell behind by 16.

Golden State scored 16 points off those first-half turnovers, according to ESPN. By halftime the Valkyries had taken 40 shots to Atlanta's 19. The Dream finished with 18 turnovers and won the second half by 11, which tells you how much ground they gave away early.

Angel Reese had the roughest day of anyone. She went 2 for 12 from the field for eight points, with nine rebounds and six turnovers. ESPN said it was her lowest shooting percentage of the postseason and her first career game with single digits in both points and rebounds while playing at least 30 minutes. Kiah Stokes held her to 2 of 10 as the primary defender.

"I think it was just me. I rushed my shots," Reese told ESPN. "I didn't take my time and finish around the basket like I've been doing the last two games."

WNBA: Rhyne Howard's and-one cuts it to 66-61

Rhyne Howard did her part with 19 points and eight rebounds, and her and-one cut it to 66-61 late. She did not sugarcoat the rest. "Lack of focus on our part," Howard said. "We kept talking about it, but we didn't show anything to be about it."

The Dream also left points at the line, going 22 for 31, and shot 4 for 23 from 3-point range. Allisha Gray went 1 for 7 for five points.

Golden State made changes after losing Game 3 by 20 and came out first with a punch. Gabby Williams scored 17, and Stokes grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked three shots.

Now Atlanta has to win once in San Francisco, where Game 5 tips Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Chase Center. The Valkyries have home court for Game 7 if the series gets there. Game 6 is set for Thursday in Atlanta, though ESPN reported the venue is unsettled because the Hawks host Cleveland at State Farm Arena that night.
