TreVeyon Henderson: watch the workload before the long run
Henderson heads toward the Raiders after 14 carries in Buffalo. His usage gives Buckeyes fans a clearer starting point than a touchdown forecast.

TreVeyon Henderson carried 14 times for 42 yards in New England's 29-26 win at Buffalo on October 4. For Ohio State fans following his second NFL season, that workload is the useful starting point for Sunday's home game against the Raiders. The Patriots' official game log records no receptions in Buffalo. Patriots player page
The next game is scheduled for October 11 at 1 p.m. Eastern. Henderson's recent rushing opportunities have varied: 16 carries against Pittsburgh, eight at Jacksonville, then 14 against Buffalo. Those are three different game environments. Comparing the attempts before comparing the yardage helps separate the amount of work he received from what he produced with it. ESPN schedule
A running back's final average can hide how an afternoon developed. An early gain can lift it. A series of short runs near the goal line can pull it down while still helping the offense. For the Raiders game, watch whether Henderson is getting touches throughout a drive or entering for isolated plays. That is a viewing question, not a claim about New England's plan.
The receiving column deserves attention, too. A catch adds another route to production when rushing lanes are limited. It also creates a distinction between rushing yards and total yards from scrimmage. If a prediction asks about rushing, a reception does not count toward that threshold, however useful it is to the Patriots.
Henderson's rookie year provides context without establishing a weekly guarantee. New England credits him with 911 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns in 2025. Those full-season totals describe what happened across 17 games. They do not set an expected result for a single matchup.
The most useful Sunday check is how often his number is called, then what happens after the handoff. Follow the official pregame availability report before kickoff; a player listed on a roster still needs to be available for that game. Once play starts, attempts and rushing yards answer different questions about his afternoon.
