Colin Simmons was named to the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on September 15. The selection also made the Texas edge defender a semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, which recognizes service alongside leadership and football performance. It was his first selection for both honors.
Texas Athletics highlighted Clay’s Color Crew, the nonprofit Simmons and his mother, Monica McCarley, created in 2024. Inspired by his younger brother Clayton, the organization supports the autism community and works to bring resources to underserved areas in South Dallas and beyond. The school also noted Simmons’ youth football camps.
The Good Works Team includes 22 college players and one head coach. Two previous Texas players have won the Wuerffel Trophy: Sam Acho in 2010 and Michael Taaffe in 2025. Simmons’ announcement recognizes his community work; the semifinalist designation does not mean the final trophy has been awarded.
