The Bears opened Week 2 with a meaningful question on the right side of their offensive line: Darnell Wright missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury as Chicago began preparing for Sunday’s home game against Minnesota.
Wright’s absence is the most consequential development on the first report because the tackle is responsible for protecting Caleb Williams’ edge against a Vikings front that will test Chicago’s protection plan. Wednesday’s designation does not establish his game status, but it gives the Bears three more practices to clarify whether the missed work is precautionary or a real threat to his availability.
Running back D’Andre Swift was limited with ankle and knee issues. Swift is coming off 124 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the season-opening win over Carolina, so even a short-term workload adjustment would change how Chicago distributes touches between Swift and Kyle Monangai. Monangai also appeared on the injury report with a hamstring issue.
Defensive lineman Neville Gallimore did not practice with an illness, while Grady Jarrett received a rest designation. The Bears are also monitoring how the first injury report affects a defense that allowed Carolina to move the ball even as Chicago’s offense produced a franchise-level opening performance.
Chicago hosts Minnesota on Sunday. The final practice reports and game designations will determine whether Wright and Swift move from watch-list items to confirmed availability questions.
