Darnell Wright enters the season with his future in Chicago settled. The Bears signed their right tackle to a four-year extension on August 4, keeping him under contract through 2031 after his first All-Pro season.
NFL Network reported a $116 million deal with $93 million guaranteed. The club's announcement did not disclose financial terms.
Chicago drafted Wright 10th overall in 2023. By the extension announcement, he had started all 49 of his regular-season appearances and added two playoff starts. His second-team All-Pro selection followed a 2025 season in which the Bears won the NFC North and reached the divisional round.
The commitment gives Chicago a fixed point at right tackle while it develops the rest of the offense around Caleb Williams. The line helped the Bears finish third in rushing last season and allowed 24 sacks, third fewest in the league, according to the team's announcement. Those are unit results, but they explain the setting in which Wright earned the new contract.
His deal also stretches beyond the next few seasons of roster decisions. Chicago can plan around an established starter at one tackle position while evaluating its remaining needs.
