The proof-of-concept work includes lymphoma and small-cell lung cancer programs with major sponsors and academic medical centers. This changes the review cadence: regulators may be able to see trends while a study is active, ask sharper questions earlier, and reduce periods when completed work waits in a queue before the next formal handoff.

Continuous visibility does not make raw trial data clean, comparable, or clinically meaningful. Sites still need correct enrollment, protocol adherence, source verification, adverse-event handling, and protection from biased interim interpretation. It is also unclear how often reviewers will act on live signals, what standards sponsors must meet, and whether added dashboards reduce work or create another reporting layer. Faster review must be measured against decision quality, patient safety, staff burden, and the risk of premature conclusions.

The next evidence should show actual time saved at each step, the number and quality of early interventions, and whether trial sites spend less time on duplicate reporting. Watch the pilot rules for audit trails, access controls, data standards, and how the FDA handles incomplete or changing records. The most convincing result would be a shorter total development timeline with no increase in protocol deviations, missed safety events, or burdens placed on patients and front-line study staff.
